The Communications department has an opportunity for a
to provide responsive, customer-focused services.
Must be available for Nights, Weekends & Statutory Holidays
Note: Scheduled hours can change at a future date due to operational/client needs.
Receiving and re-directing incoming telephone calls.
Providing directions to visitors.
Paging staff as per paging policy.
Using the overhead paging system for emergency codes and other defined emergency announcements.
Answering emergency line and initiates emergency code response as defined in the Emergency/Disaster Manual.
Locating on-call Centre personnel and medical staff through the contact information on file which can include in-house pager, long range pager, cell number, and/or home number.
Controlling the Emergency Command Centre according to departmental, emergency/disaster and administrative policies and procedures.
Monitoring fire alarm, wandering client alarm, duress alarms, museum alarm, and boiler room alarm.
Monitoring the Closed Circuit Video Equipment system.
Performing data entry.
Answering external perimeter intercoms and afterhours building access.
Answering and processing urgent support service request calls.
Providing information and reception service.
Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent.
Two (2) years previous SL-1 Telephone System experience.
One (1) year of experience working with a Multitone Paging System is required.
Previous customer service experience is required.
Call Centre experience is an asset.
Experience using an emergency colour code system is preferred.
Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
Good verbal, written and listening English language communication skills.
Knowledge of Yiddish or a second language (Eastern European) is an asset.
Ability to deal tactfully with clients, family members, staff, volunteers and visitors.
Ability to work under pressure in a team atmosphere.
Ability to manage multiple, often competing priorities.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, client-focused environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift work/schedule.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision, make appropriate decisions and use good judgment to and problem-solve.
