ABOUT THE BAYCREST FOUNDATION Baycrest, a world-class leader in innovation in aging, provides care through a unique continuum of care system ranging from wellness programs, residential housing and outpatient clinics to a 472-bed nursing home, and a 300-bed hospital that includes both Acute and Complex Continuing Care.
The Baycrest Foundation raises funds to support Baycrest’s vision: to be the global leader in providing innovative and effective solutions to the challenges inherent in the process of aging through the integration of exemplary clinical care, education and scientific discovery. The Baycrest Foundation does this through developing and nurturing relationships with community leaders, donors and prospects in Toronto, Canada and internationally, and by generating awareness and recognition for Baycrest and its work.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Baycrest Foundation has a full-time opportunity for a Digital Development Specialist who will be responsible for the management and maintenance of all Foundation website properties, social media sites and digital applications, supporting the implementation of a comprehensive on-line communications and marketing strategy that will enhance the Foundation’s web donors and support and the social media reach of the Baycrest Foundation.
Reporting to the Director, Digital & Emerging Platforms, the Digital Development Specialist will work with external developers to build a complex, custom content management system (‘CMS’) for the Foundation, managing the CMS and all external web and new media communications vehicles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Digital Development Specialist will be responsible for:
Design & Production • Designs, develops, tests and implements website content, e-mail campaigns and applications. • Develops website strategies, plans, conversion goals and web analytics. • Maintains the websites on a day-to-day basis. • Produces on-line campaign materials. • Develops/maintains the Baycrest Foundation’s microsites, including serving as an on-line specialist. • Positions websites through third-party search engines and other directories. • Manages resources, schedules and budgets. • Manage digital displays located across the facility, operating across multiple OS (Mac/Windows) and software packages (Omnivex, Keynote, PowerPoint, touch-enabled web)
Technical • Develops/oversees internet solutions, web development activities and application builds. • Develops navigational structures, web architectures, feature sets, functionality, and content requirements for new websites. • Develops specification and design framework for project scoping. • Researches/evaluates new internet technologies and capabilities, and new application technologies and capabilities for iOS, BlackBerry® and Android. • Create and implement search engine optimization strategies and optimizes browser rankings. • Monitors and analyzes web traffic flow using Google Analytics • Creates custom applications and content for Facebook and other social networks, using cross platform compliant coding practices.
Content Management, Website Administrator, App Development • Implements content management system solutions. • Optimizes processes for content management, develops routines or programs in-house or recommends third party programming resources. • Works with the Director, Digital & Donor Communications and the Foundation’s Information Technology department to implement/deliver new online and application functionality. • Works with external vendors on the development and launch of donor-focused applications for the iOS, Android and BlackBerry® suite of products.
Design and Interface • Plans, creates and produces web, email and application layouts and graphics. • Oversees the creation of web graphics, as well as enhances and edits for web posting. • Works within the global brand and around clear event-focused marketing goals, and enforces corporate brand and style standards so that each event to has a unique aesthetic. • Creates online multimedia presentations, including various formats of video and audio software. • Develops/maintains the ‘creative vision’ of the Foundation’s website. • Prepares/maintains corporate graphic standards, manuals and templates.
Information Architecture and User Experience • Creates scalable content structures. • Ensures compliance with accessibility legislation. • Liaises between content editors/owners and the development team. • Recommends/develops web functionality. • Produces web assets (web pages, PDFs, infographics, screens and other communications) using quality design standards and web best practices to ensure high usability benchmark.
Project Management • Facilitates the content and technical objectives for assigned web projects, including: scheduling and scoping of website design; determining functional requirements; defining programming requirements (design, implementation, QA and then go-live). • Researches and pushes forward the team’s ideas for development of the web and social media sites. • Manages page changes and customization to Facebook®, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social sites.
