The Baycrest Foundation has a full-time opportunity for a

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

Non-Union – Full-Time – 1.0 F.T.E. – 70 Hours Bi-weekly

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Financial Accountant prepares financial and statistical reports for the Baycrest Foundation, Board of Directors and external agencies.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Performing assigned accounting functions in support of the Foundation’s financial services.

General Ledger Support

  • Reconciling General Ledger accounts (i.e. deferred revenue, accrued liabilities, pre-paids, etc.).
  • Preparing, inputting and adjusting monthly journal entries to the General Ledger.
  • Updating General Ledger when a new cost centre or a new General Ledger account is created.
  • Posting revenue to the General Ledger on a monthly basis and preparing monthly revenue reconciliation.
  • Running monthly endowment and donor restricted sub-ledger reports as well as post investment income allocations.

General Accounting Services

  • Assisting in the completion of financial schedules for the Foundation at the year-end audit.
  • Participating in the preparation of year-end audit schedules and annual budgeting exercises.
  • Analyzing and seeking clarification of accounting-related data from departments within the Baycrest Foundation.
  • Reconciling all bank accounts held by the Foundation.
  • Providing support to Supervisor, Financial Services, as needed.
  • Preparing working papers and files HST.
  • Preparing fund reconciliations.
  • Preparing monthly investment performance report and co-ordinating with external investment consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of, or enrolment in a Certified Management Accountant, Certified General Accountant program is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or related field of study is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years accounting experience.
  • Electronic system data management experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proficient with other Microsoft software including Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Acrobat and Internet knowledge.
  • Prior exposure to SmartStream, PROPHIX, Raiser’s Edge, and Financial Edge is preferred.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in order to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to complete priorities on a timely basis.
