Job Requirements:

 


  • Successful candidate will have a valid certification in the area of group exercise instruction from recognized organization with mandatory continuing education credits.

  • Must have a valid Emergency First Aid/CPR “B” certification

  • Successful complete an audition.

  • Employment offers are conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Record Search, Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.

 

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Fitness/Active Living Supervisor the successful candidate will:

 


  • Be responsible for providing a fitness class suited to the needs of the program participants that are safe, fun and technically sound.

  • Meet the objectives and goals of the program.

  • Lead the designated class in a professional manner and create a safe and enjoyable climate.

  • Adhere to class format guidelines provided by the Supervisor.

  • Give verbal instruction to all participants to exercise at their own pace, at the beginning of and throughout the class.

  • Provide intensity checks (perceived exertion or heart rate) periodically during the class.

  • Maintain excellent public relations when dealing with all customers and share information about the community centre to class participants.

  • Provide information only to areas of expertise.

  • Perform emergency procedures as required.

  • Report any problems, difficulties or incidents to the Supervisor or Manager on Duty.

  • Attend mandatory meetings and training as required.

  • Read, understand and abide by all City of Mississauga and Divisional Standards, Corporate Policies and Procedures, including the Human Resources Policies and respecting Employee Conduct, Health and Safety and Freedom of Information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Hourly rate of pay is commensurate with education and experience
