CORPORATE SERVICES DEPARTMENT FACILITIES & PROPERTY MANAGEMENT DIVISION CAPITAL PLANNING SECTION requires a FACILITIES ASSESSMENT CONSULTANT Job Specifications: University Degree in Architecture, Mechanical or Structural Engineering with a minimum of five years of comparable work experience in building sciences or asset management. Professional Engineer designation in Ontario or immediate eligibility is required. PMP designation is an asset. Direct experience in asset management will be considered a strong asset. Experience conducting/coordinating large, complex facility condition assessments. Must be familiar with BOMI life cycle standards and working knowledge of facility systems; property and building component values and capital budgeting. Familiarity with life cycle planning software would be an asset (i.e. VFA.facility). Experience with costing tables and developing cost estimates. Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Excellent communication, report writing and problem solving skills. Commitment to working in a team environment with a focus on continuous improvement and quality customer service. Must have the ability to travel between various sites and facilities located across the City of Mississauga. Primary Responsibilities: Reporting to the Supervisor, Capital Planning the successful candidate will oversee condition assessments and review and complete technical reports as required. Validate capital projects to determine necessity, solution and cost. Assist in the planning of capital life cycle maintenance programs. Complete site visits and retain and manage external resources when required. Investigate and evaluate architectural, mechanical, electrical and site systems. Coordinate life cycle requirements and consolidate with other technical requirements for input into comprehensive redevelopment project planning (ie accessibility, energy management, etc.). Identify and evaluate cost efficiencies and value creation opportunities. Represent Facilities & Property Management on various building feasibility studies. Perform other duties as assigned.
