JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 to 5 years directly related experience in a municipal environment; College Diploma/Certificate in Planning, Business or Public Administration or Architectural Technology; excellent analytical problem solving, decision making and written/oral communication skills; knowledgeable in applicable Municipal and Provincial laws, city planning and development processes; personal computer literacy and proficiency in the reading and interpretation of technical material; sound customer service orientation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Zoning , the successful candidate will examine and report on Building Permit and Zoning Certificate applications relative to their compliance with City of Mississauga Zoning by-laws, other applicable law, and department procedures; review Building Permit and Zoning Certificate applications to ensure that all development occupancy proposals are in compliance with Zoning regulations, Variance or Severance Conditions, Council Resolutions, as well as the requirements of all appropriate government authorities; update Building Permit Information System with data pertinent to each plan review; review and comment on draft by-laws, minor variance and land severance applications, and site development plan applications; liaise with other sections, divisions, departments and appropriate Regional, Provincial and Federal authorities on an as required basis to provide information, clarify requirements and/or conditions of approval; participate in meetings with architects, engineers and/or developers; interpret Zoning By-laws and provide professional advice on zoning land use proposals and development standards; prepare information for files, correspondence, and reports relative to the Section; ensure that duties are carried out in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures; recommend modifications to existing service levels where appropriate; ensure that knowledge and expertise in zoning matters remain current; participate as necessary in sectional meetings relative to new land use initiatives; assist customers and clients in the coordination and expedition of development applications to ensure overall customer satisfaction; and perform other related duties as may be assigned.
HOURLY RATE: $33.97 - $45.29
