Full Time. Early Morning Shifts. Overtime as required.

Responsibilities:
• Oversees all news operations for 4 hours of daily content including management of news personnel.
• Sets strategy, policy and procedures for the department while acting as a hands-on teacher, coach and mentor
• Effectively manage financial resources and work within a defined budget
• Proven ability and experience working with a sales/revenue department developing programming to meet client's needs, programming objectives, and financial goals
• Interact with all facets of the community to understand citizen viewpoints, opinions and concerns and community issues
• Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation
• Ability to handle moderate stress on a regular basis with periods of high stress and deadline pressure
• Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• At least five years experience in a leadership position in broadcast news operations.
• Familiarity with Overdrive, iNews an asset
• Familiarity in MS Word, Outlook and online platforms.
• Strong leadership skills with an ability to establish and maintain highest editorial standards among a news gathering team
• Determine operational policies and oversee implementation of production and company procedures
• Recruit, lead, train and mentor a young group of news and show producers
• A solid understanding of law related to media, libel, young offenders and privacy
• Strong understanding of and experience with social media platforms
• Ability to forward plan while remaining topical and current
• Proven ability to manage resources effectively within a budget
• Self-starter with excellent problem solving skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or related field
• Extraordinary verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel as required and to work long and flexible hours
