Full Time. Early Morning Shifts. Overtime as required.

Responsibilities:
Producer for CTV Ottawa’s Morning Show. Specific responsibilities include:
• Generating interesting, original, current story ideas that keep CTV ahead of the competition and our viewers watching longer
• Writing news stories, selecting footage to include in broadcasts and reviewing sound bytes in order to ensure smooth composition and flow of the news
• Tracking down high-profile and expert guests for on-air interviews
• Preparing research packages and questions for use by on-air hosts
• Finding, booking, and pre-interviewing guests for air
• Monitoring and staying abreast of news of the day, as well as issues and trends that impact residents of Ottawa, Ottawa Valley, Seaway, Gatineau.
• Writing to website and update social media as required
• Contributing to the station’s ongoing diversity initiatives, and actively reflect the diversity of the Ottawa community in daily news coverage
• Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• Degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary broadcast program or related television news experience
• Proven editorial news judgment with high journalistic standards
• Solid understanding of broadcast standards
• Creative writing skills
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
• Ability to work in a team, and be self-motivated
• Ability to prioritize and juggle tasks and assignments in a deadline-driven environment
• Newsroom lineup skills, production control room
• Proficiency in social networks an asset, excellent computer skills
• Knowledge of iNews, Gateway, Inscriber an asset
• The successful candidate must be an excellent writer, a creative thinker, and have strong news judgment.
