Positions: News Director | Reference: CTVKIT012012 | | Location: CTV Kitchener, ON | | Salary: Commensurate with experience. Responsibilities: | | · As Director of News the successful candidate will be accountable for driving the content and administration of daily news and weekly current event shows · Provide direction and guidance to assignment, reporting and editorial staff · Participate in the strategic and forward planning of the overall News editorial product, as well as special news events and features put to air ensuring our news programs exceed the CTV, CBSC and RTNDA guidelines · Promote CTV Kitchener, develop effective community relations, and represent and comment on behalf of the station when issues or complaints arise · Liaise with CTV on issues effecting CTV stations or the CTV Network · Scheduling of staff, departmental budgeting, employee relations and other administrative functions Qualifications: | | We are seeking a senior leader with extensive practical experience in broadcast journalism · Practical knowledge of television operations, production, field reporting, and a strong editorial background including knowledge of editorial law and industry issues · Innovative and creative thinker capable of establishing a vision for the day’s newscasts and effectively leading and inspiring a News team to achieve the station’s goals · Strong team leader with effective people and motivational skills and a demonstrated record of success in major market television news · Effective employee relations skills with experience working in a union environment · Demonstrated strategic and tactical planning ability on the local and national level · An understanding of budgeting and scheduling procedures · Candidates must be prepared to reside in Waterloo region or Guelph. · Practical and proficient working knowledge of iNews, social media and Microsoft Office. | | Posting Details: Interested candidates are encouraged forward a current resume, in confidence to: Anne Kircos – HR Manager Bellmedia Anne.kircos@bellmedia.ca Please quote reference number: CTVKIT012012 |
