Toronto Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required. Responsibilities: As part of the Comedy programming group led by the Director, Independent Production - Comedy, this is a senior development and production executive position within the Independent Production team at Bell Media · Evaluating pitches and developing comedic scripted programming (particularly the half hour format) for Bell Media’s channels · Acting as the Bell Media representative on commissioned comedic programming, including but not limited to: providing notes and input on script materials, casting, crew, rough cuts and fine cuts, attending shoots, providing timely status reports, generally working closely with the producers on all facets of production, and serving as Bell Media’s point of contact in conjunction with the Director and the SVP as applicable · Tracking trends in comedic programming and translating research and business ideas into engaging television shows with a focus on ratings and performance · Working closely with the rest of the Independent Production team to maximize opportunities and create content which has the highest possible creative and production values and which achieves high ratings and furthers the strategic objectives of the channels · Working with Digital team to develop interactive and digital content attached to commissioned comedy projects as required · Work closely with Bell Media Programming, Business Affairs, Finance, Promotions, Publicity, and Communications teams · Developing and enhancing strong relationships with independent producers, creators, comedians, writers, directors, and agents · Maintaining an active awareness of new and established comedy talent both in Canada and the abroad. · Liaising with Independent Production Community and funders of programming Qualifications: · Minimum of five years experience both in production and development in comedic television for a production company and/or broadcaster · Significant knowledge of television production and strong relationships with Canadian television’s creative community including writers, story editors, directors, comedians, actors and producers · Excellent creative instincts and passion for Canadian programming and for comedic television programs in particular · Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the larger team of creative executives which make up the Independent Production team · Strong creative instincts and judgment, and passion for Canadian comedy · Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and excellent interpersonal skills · Sound business judgment and superior organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize · Ability to travel on an as needed basis Application Deadline: September 18,2012 Human Resources Please quote reference number: 04092012 Bell Media.
