Responsibilities: Working closely with the Director (Marketing), and Associate Manager (Marketing), this position is responsible for the daily execution of the marketing plans (for consumer & trade advertising, events and promotions) for the Discovery group of channels - Discovery, Discovery World, Discovery Science, Investigation Discovery, and Animal Planet. § Communicating marketing priorities to key stakeholders. § Maintaining on-air promo optimization to ensure properties are supported effectively. § Developing marketing initiatives and strategies to drive traffic to the Discovery group digital properties and to support the long-term health of the digital brands. § Briefing creative and design teams (and other departments as needed) on marketing strategy and messaging. § Liaising between departments to successfully execute coordinated and cohesive marketing initiatives. § Establish and execute social media marketing strategy and maintain priority list and messaging. § Build and provide research for external media plans. § Negotiation of merchandise orders and sourcing of best rates for venues, rentals, talent for events. § Provision of all support functions for team: research, sourcing, shipping, packaging, tracking, controlling flow of merchandise and maintaining detailed merchandise records, gathering post-promotional data for reports. § Process invoices and maintain Budget Control Report. § Assisting the marketing team with coordination and execution of live events. § Updating and distributing status reports. § Maintain database of campaign elements, program schedules, and press releases. § Monitor, record and analyze competitive initiatives. § Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: § Professional, creative, resourceful and action-oriented. § Self-motivated, enthusiastic, strong interpersonal skills. § Strong written and verbal communication skills. § Superb time management and organizational skills. § Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Photoshop. § Actively engaged in social media platforms and able to identify opportunities for Marketing applications. § Understanding of research methods and applications. § Creative writing skills considered a valuable asset. § University/post-secondary education required, with emphasis on Marketing preferred.
