Stay on top of breaking news throughout the day and collaborate with reporters to package stories on the website effectively. ·         Monitor the daily wires and other news sources; update and amend web content on a regular basis throughout the shift to ensure its freshness and competitive edge. ·         Edit and post the news from the CTV London/Windsor newsroom and wire services ensuring that the content of all news, features, interviews, and photos are posted to the website in a manner consistent with CTV’s broadcast style. ·         Ensure that copyright restrictions are respected in selecting and editing multimedia enhancements to the news, including still photos, graphics and audio files to accompany news text. ·         Lead, plan and execute coverage of special events on the website, making use of video streaming, live chats and other interactive web elements. ·         Check for accuracy of facts, typos, and technical errors prior to posting information.  Other duties as assigned Qualifications: ·         Degree/Diploma in Journalism preferred plus 2 or more years of practical experience in a broadcast/online newsroom a news web writer. ·         Demonstrated news and editorial judgment, strong copy editing skills, clear and concise writing ability and an excellent command of the English language. ·         Advanced proficiency with computer software/internet and practical experience working with technical systems relevant to web operation including Content Management Systems, Adobe Photoshop, various web browsers, iNews, Microsoft Office, social media platforms, blogging, FTP, basic CSS/HTML coding, SEO, multimedia publishing and web-based communications (Skype).  ·         Current knowledge of the London region (history, geography, political and socio-economic conditions) and challenges facing the region.
