Video Journalist

CEP Local 899. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week. Must be available to work weekends.  Occasional overtime as required.
To work in the CTV Edmonton Newsroom this person will be responsible for originating, shooting, writing, interviewing and presenting information to a television audience live and on tape as a general assignment reporter. Responsibilities as a video journalist include: 

·         Interviewing, writing, producing and reporting television stories
·         Proven ability to generate original story ideas and to complete the appropriate scripting, editing and production of the story to get to air
·         Live reporting
·         Contributing to the station’s on-line content
·         Strong editorial decision making
·         Other related duties as assigned

·         Graduate from a recognized post secondary broadcast or journalism program
·         Strong journalist and storytelling skills
·         Demonstrated organizational skills
·         Minimum of 3 years of reporting experience
·         Proven ability as a live to air reporter
·         Knowledge of television production procedures, terminology and equipment capabilities
·         Possess strong news and editorial judgment along with a proven ability to use sound and pictures to help tell the story
·         Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work unsupervised and make quick decisions
·         Ability to deal with multiple demands and pressures of on-air deadlines
·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
