Recreation Services is accepting applications for part-time employment opportunities in Aquatics. Positions include Aquatic Instructor/Lifeguard (part-time) and Assistant Instructor (part-time).

Positions are available at Victoria Road Recreation Centre, West End Community Centre, Centennial Pool.

Aquatic Instructor
Instruct assigned classes in accordance to the governing body’s (Red Cross, Lifesaving Society standards and the City of Guelph expectations. Maintain and enforce high safety standards at all times.  Lifeguard as requested and assume all responsibilities of a guard.  
Duties:
1. Maintain a high level of safety supervision at all times.
2. Complete all necessary administration documentation thoroughly.
3. Attend all mandatory staff trainings.
4. Respond as required to any aquatic emergency situations.
5. Assist in implementation of City wide events, such as swim meets, theme days, rentals, etc. as required.
6. Ensure that all aquatic qualifications remain current and on file.
7. General maintenance of pool deck and facilities.

Qualifications:
1. Current N.L.S. Certification
2. Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
3. L.S.S. Instructor Certificate recommended.
4. Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” Certification.
5. AED recommended.

Assistant Instructor
Assist the instructor during the instructional program.  Perform minor first aid and assist in emergencies as required.  Lifeguard as requested and assume all responsibilities of a guard.  

Duties:
1. Maintaining high safety supervision at all times.
2. Attend mandatory staff trainings.
3. Assist with class management and safety supervision during Instructional Learn to Swim programs under the guidance and direction of the aquatic instructor.
4. Respond as required to any aquatic emergency situations.
5. General maintenance of pool deck and facilities.

Qualifications:
1. Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Instructor.
2. Current Bronze Cross, N.L.S. Certification an asset.
3. Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” Certification.
4. AED recommended.
