Sidewalk Winter Control Operators (Temporary)
Successful candidates will be decisive, self-motivated, and able to communicate in a cordial and professional manner. You will operate equipment relating to Sidewalk Winter Control operations including but not limited to Sidewalk Plow with Plow Blade or Snow Blower Attachment. Winter Control training will be provided. You will comply with all applicable regulations/requirements, report variances to daily work plans, and actively participate in a team environment. As well, you will complete daily time sheets and report vandalism, mechanical difficulties, and damage. Mechanically inclined, you are able to perform physical labour, including lifting and shovelling. You must have a valid Class G licence in good standing and have held such licence for the past 5 years.
Hours of Works for Sidewalk Winter Control Operators: This role is required to work during or following snow storms for shifts ranging from 4 to 12 hours in duration. Hours will be as needed on a Call In basis, Monday through Sunday primarily between the hours of 5 PM and 5 AM to a maximum of 12 hours per day and 60 hours per week. These positions will run from mid November 2012 to the end of March 2013.
Rate of pay: $22.59 per hour
Roads Winter Control Operators (Temporary)
You will operate equipment relating to Winter Control operations for Roads including, but not limited to: Tandem or Single Axle plow/spreader truck with or without a wing unit, front end loader, and miscellaneous associated road maintenance equipment. Winter Control training will be provided. You will comply with all applicable regulations/requirements, report variances to daily work plans, and actively participate in a team environment. As well, you will complete daily time sheets, report material quantities used, vandalism, mechanical difficulties, and damage. You are able to perform physical labour, including lifting and shovelling. You have five years recent experience operating DZ vehicles and relevant heavy equipment in winter driving conditions. You must have a valid DZ licence in good standing and have held such licence for the past 5 years.
Hours of work for Roads Winter Control Operators will be two 12 hour shifts between 11:00pm Friday and 11:00pm Sunday on a weekly basis up to 24 hours worked per week, if required. These positions are for approximately 16 weeks duration commencing December 3, 2012.
Rate of pay: $23.84 per hour
