Position Overview

The Associate IMAC Technical Specialis reports to the Team Leader IMAC, and is responsible to install, move, add and change (IMAC) workstations within service levels, and is accountable for timely resolution of Service Requests across all participating companies, while adhering to SIS, IS and Corporate processes.  The IMAC Team is a component of Workstation Services.

There are up to seven one-year term positions available for this role.


Accountabilities

·        Executes workstation refresh including gathering requirements, applying workstation image, business application installation, and data transfer from Windows XP to Windows 7.
·        Coordinates and schedules multiple workstation refreshes requests with customers.
·        Validates hardware and software requests for technical configuration, approvals, completeness and for compliance with corporate guidelines.
·        Coordinates and executes the shipping, receiving and transferring of computer equipment between sites and locations.   Identifies, validates, and provides updates to Asset Management through the execution of IMAC services, break/fix events and disposition of equipment.
·        Performs hardware refresh by executing data backup/restore activities, installation of new desktops, laptops, and LAN printers at user locations and updating of asset records upon completion.
·        Executes the disposal and liquidation of assets based on technical and information security guidelines, i.e. scrubbing hard drives, to ensure secure data removal, packaging equipment for shipment and providing updates for equipment records to Asset management.
·        Serves as a point of contact with external vendors for IMAC activities in remote offices.


Qualifications and Competencies

·        Up to 2 years experience within an IT environment
·        Education/skills acquired through completion of a post-secondary degree or equivalent
·        A+ Certification
·        Knowledge of PC hardware and software components and how they fit together e.g. memory, hard drive, cards, adapters, operating systems, and networking
·        Ability to lift 30 lbs or more of computer equipment
·        Ability to demonstrate analytical and troubleshooting skills performed locally and on remote systems (this requires the ability to visualize the problem when you can’t access the system directly)
·        Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effectively communicating with a non-technical audience
·        Strong organization, planning and attention to detail
·        Superior customer service skills and good interpersonal skills
·        Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities in a fluid work environment
·        Technical knowledge of Windows XP and Windows 7
·        Technical knowledge of client/server infrastructure
·        Technical knowledge of common workstation hardware and software
·        Knowledge of network terminology and troubleshooting
·        Knowledge of software distribution processes and tools


Desirable

·      Ability to communicate in French would be an asset
·      Knowledge of LANDesk and associated functions
·      Knowledge of ITIL processes including Change Management processes
·      Knowledge of software databases
·    Knowledge of Remedy
