This position is knowledgeable and experienced in group financial underwriting requirements for all types of group plans and works closely with Account Managers. This position is proficient in quotation process including the development of manual and experience-rated benefits, risk assessment, plan design, rating processes and outputs in obtaining the account. This position must also possess proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft WORD, Excel and PowerPoint. This position requires knowledge in group insurance products and services. This position is expected to complete the Certificate in Group Benefits in the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist program. Accountabilities: · Assist Account Managers in managing assigned Non-Refund and Refund/ASO accounts: annual renewal including detailed review of renewal action proposed by Head Office; determining rate action to be proposed to the client and/or advisor within the broad parameters of the Underwriting policy, and preparing renewal reports/letters as well as financial information as benefit changes to solve or minimum rate increases, and respond to requests for amendments · Track management reporting requirements for the office ensuring that the information compiled can be analyzed by management, to ensure that group office objectives are achieved · Supports the Account Manager in developing and maintaining advisor relationships including becoming/remaining attuned to advisor needs, responding promptly to inquiries including acknowledgement of RFPs, responding to inquiries with respect to financial reports · Working with experienced Account Managers, perform following duties to prepare Request for Proposals (RFP) for Non-Refund up to the field underwriting limit in annual premium including maintain a register of all RFPs including date of receipt, assignment, underwriting fund usage, decline ratios, etc, manual rates, followed by preparation of experience rated rates, provide recommendations on underwriting fund usage prepare written proposal including rate and benefit comparisons including responses to any questionnaires included in the RFP, provide technical expertise in benefit/plan alternatives as requested by advisors and account managers, assist in the development of responses to specific RFP questions Qualifications and Competencies: · Post-secondary degree or equivalent plus 4 or more years experience in group insurance underwriting or related experience · Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated attention to detail · Good verbal and written skills as well as customer service skills · Excellent organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously often with scheduled deadlines · Strong computer skills especially in Excel, Word and PowerPoint · Knowledge and experience with Access is an asset. · Ability to work in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment We thank all candidates for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
