The Investment Division is responsible for all accounting, valuation and financial reporting related to Canadian general and segregated funds investment assets.  The division participates in various business initiatives that require expertise on analysis, various systems, operational impacts, product structure and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Manager of the Business Solutions Group (BSG), the Senior Business Analyst SFFS will be responsible for the successful completion of a wide range of departmental and corporate initiatives. The Business Analyst will work closely with management and other business leaders to analyze and change business processes, involving several major systems used within GWL’s investment division as well as providing ongoing support on these applications.


  • Develop, recommend, implement and manage various business solutions that in turn support company-wide strategic or divisional initiatives.
  • Provide business analysis support to various departments within the investment division on a wide range of initiatives and process improvements
  •  Participate in project planning and provide project management support.
  • Provide business system support for various applications and interfaces.
  • Accountability for project results with a focus on impact to operations, mitigation of risks, time/cost benefits, quality and scope
  • Execution and implementation of change management methodology for system changes including documentation and enhancing controls where necessary
  • Providing guidance and training to Business Analysts as well as training for Departmental staff on new processes, and procedures.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Completion of a University degree with a major in finance and/or accounting. A post-graduate business degree or accounting designation (CGA, CMA, or CA) is an asset.
  • 4-7 years experience in the Financial Industry including investments.
  • Technology exposure and strong knowledge of MS Office Suite tools.
  • Proven effective analytical, organizational and decision making skills required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills sufficient to articulate factual and conceptual information on issues requiring detailed explanation.
  • Must be able to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability in executing project deliverables.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and within a team environment as well as an ability to maintain productive and collaborative relationships with colleagues and senior management within the Company to obtain, provide, verify and discuss information.
