Based in our downtown Toronto office, as a Disability Case Manager your skills and expertise are relied upon to make important decisions on a daily basis. The Disability Case Manager is responsible for assisting employees on behalf of the employer when an employee is off work or at risk of being off work due to health reasons.
The Disability Case Manager assesses any barriers to a successful and timely return-to-work and engages with stakeholders to implement strategies to address those identified barriers and support return to work or an appropriate alternative return to employability plan. The Disability Case Manager develops a proactive disability management plan which is goal-oriented to achieve an effective and positive outcome for clients and their employees and ensures the plan is executed in a timely manner with the goal of facilitating the earliest possible restoration of function and return to a state of employability.
Throughout the claim, the case manager is continuously actively involved with the employee and their representatives, the employer, business partners, key stakeholders and medical professionals to assist in developing positive and healthy return-to-work initiatives.
§ Assess new claims to ensure that all provisions of the group insurance policy are met, obtain further information from a variety of sources, determine correct benefit calculations
§ Negotiate and develop management plans for each claim
§ Ongoing management of files by continuing to assess ongoing claims
§ Continued assessment and proper claim management of ongoing claims
§ Communication skills in the areas of: answering written, telephone and in-person inquiries from claimants/policyholders/physicians/lawyers, etc.
§ Initiate further investigation into questionable claims
§ Accurately maintain file documentation and internal records as required

Qualifications and Competencies:
· Proven ability to perform well in a stressful and high volume work environment.
· Ability to remain calm and present a professional manner under pressure.
· Proven ability to work in a team environment.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Superior analytical skills.
· Post secondary education and 2-3 years experience, preferably in group insurance or benefits administration is an asset.
· English/French Bilingualism is an asset
§ LOMA, HIAA, ICA or CEBS desirable.
