Key responsibilities:

Working within our Associate Services (Human Resources) area, you will be responsible for the Communications and Community Relations function at HCM.  As a hands-on supervisor of a small team, your primary duties will include preparing and editing internal and external communication and managing our charitable donations and community relations activities, as well as supporting, planning and facilitating on-site events such as line-off ceremonies, open houses and public tours. 


Qualifications and experience:

§  Post-secondary education in a related field (communication, journalism, marketing, advertising, public relations , etc.) or equivalent experience

§  At least three years’ previous experience in a similar supervisory role

§  Previous experience developing and implementing a strategic communication plan

§  Previous experience managing charitable donations/philanthropic corporate programs

§  Previous experience in planning and managing events


Position Requirements:

§  Ability to prepare effective written and verbal communication materials for internal and external audiences, with speed and accuracy.

§  Highly effective organization, prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills to meet deadlines.

§  Strong leadership skills; ideally demonstrated by past leadership roles

§  A high level of proficiency in the use of computer software programs (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

§  Willingness and availability to periodically work weekends /long hours  to support activities, events, or special circumstances if required

§  The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced work environment

§  Ability to mentor and support team members

§  Ability to work with internal leaders to develop compelling presentations and/or speeches

§  Ability to engage key stakeholders while also ensuring the consistency of key messages

§  Experience acting as a media liaison

§  Previous experience  ensuring adherence to budgetary requirements



Additional attributes that would be a plus for this position:

§  Post secondary education/courses in charitable donations/fundraising

§  Familiarity with web design and social media trends
