PAINT DEPARTMENT QUALITY GROUP – MATERIALS MANAGEMENT

We have an exciting opportunity in our Paint Department Quality group.

Key responsibilities for this position:

·         Business plan and New model support through paint material development &/or modification

·         Paint material application and process analysis and improvement activity development

·         Project support for new equipment installations or modifications from initial investigation through commissioning

·         Root cause analysis & development of countermeasures for paint material problems impacting all areas of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Management/Morale and Safety

·         R&D liaison and material supplier management

 

The preferred candidate must have:

§  Completed Post-secondary degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or equivalent work related experience

§  Demonstrated problem solving, countermeasure development & reporting skills  

§  Demonstrated planning and decision making skills

§  Willingness to travel for extended periods, sometimes on short notice

§  Demonstrated self-sufficiency, with strong time management skills

§  Demonstrated communication & organization skills

§  Willingness to support weekday and weekend overtime, shutdowns, & abnormal shifts in support of project and production work, sometimes on short notice

§  Demonstrated ability to work independently & in a team environment

§  Proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

§  Flexibility to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities

§  Demonstrated ability to multitask & manage short and long term projects concurrently

 

Demonstrated experience in the following areas would be an asset to this position:

§  Experience with development, testing and the application of automotive paints, coatings, sealants and other material technologies

§  Experience with lock out safety protocols

§  Experience and knowledge of quality control methods & tools including TQM, FMEA and SPC

§  Familiarity with SAE, ASTM, or other materials engineering standards

§  Familiarity with Federal, Provincial and Municipal environmental and waste reporting and management standards
