LIFEGUARD / INSTRUCTOR: BEACHFRONT
The Lifeguard / Instructor ensures beach safety through supervision and public education. This position also performs Lifeguard duties such as checking and maintaining equipment; performing safety supervision; proactively intervening in emergency situations; providing water rescue, first aid and follow-up; maintaining in service training requirements and personal fitness levels as outlined and/or performs swimming instructor duties such as teaching lessons; educating swimmers about hazards and safety; carrying out rescues and follow-up; maintaining reports; planning special events, etc. The Lifeguard / Instructor supports persons with disabilities (e.g. personal care, lifting procedures, adapting activities, administering medication,etc.) in programs.
- Holds a current National Lifeguard Service Award, Standard First Aid, CPR,and Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
- Previous NLS Waterfront experience an asset.
- All candidates who meet the basic qualifications must participate in a Fitness Test consisting of a 500 metre swim and a 3 kilometre run.
- Previous experience working with persons with disabilities and supervisory skills considered an asset.

Conditions of Employment:
Successful completion of all summer training requirements. Successful completion of Lifeguard Waterfront Certification and Oxygen Administration. Screening through the Child Abuse Registry and, if applicable, a Police Records Check.
Wage: $12.15 - 13.88 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
Hours of Work: Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule / overtime may be required.
