Applicants should only apply if they are experienced IV and Phlebotomy nurses.  This role is evolving into an “expert resource” role for staff within the organization, as well as in the community for the management of IV’s, phlebotomy and central lines. 

 

The position is physically demanding and requires extended periods of walking.



Qualifications:


·         Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario

·         Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification

·         Recent extensive IV insertion experience, minimum of 3‑5 years preferred

·         Canadian Intravenous Nurses Certificate (CINA) is preferred (or successful certification within first year of employment)

·         Experience in management of central lines and PICC troubleshooting

·         PICC line insertion skills an asset

·         Experience with port‑a‑cath accessing

·         Experience with TPA administration preferred

·         Expertise in phlebotomy with children preferred

·         Demonstrated knowledge of IV technology                     

·         Personable individual able to deal with large numbers of different individuals on a daily basis

·         Sound knowledge of computer skills in Excel, MS Word, Powerpoint and Groupwise

·         Demonstrated expert competency in communication, problem solving and decision-making

·         Demonstrated physical ability to work extended shifts (12 hours) with irregular break periods as dictated by workload demands

·         Demonstrated skill in learning needs assessment and teaching skills with staff and patients

·         Demonstrated expert competency in coaching and mentoring skills

·         Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
