Reporting to Dr. Shannon Venance and Dr. Christen Shoesmith, the Research Assistant will support the functioning of clinical trials in neuromuscular disease. The clinical trials will typically involve patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and muscle diseases. The successful applicant will assist with ethics applications, data management, patient scheduling and patient evaluations in ongoing neuromuscular clinical trials. The role will involve interaction with neurologists, specialized nursing staff, clinical evaluators, medical secretaries, patients, and patient families. Occasional travel to clinical trial meetings may be required.
Qualifications
Successful completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent acceptable to the Hospital Minimum one year recent clinical trials research experience Previous experience in submitting research ethics proposals an asset Knowledge of neurologic disease an asset Demonstrated organization skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously Demonstrated computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to work independently and effectively in a busy environment with frequent disruptions Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (both verbal and written) with all levels of staff Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
