Reporting to the Program Director, Surgical Care, the Manager, Operating Room provides exemplary leadership to the Operating Room at University Hospital, which provides surgical care to over 9,000 patients annually.  The Operating Room consists of 16 suites and is staffed on a 24/7 basis, providing surgical care for patient populations in Neurosurgery, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Dentistry, Plastics and General Surgery with subspecialties in transplant and robotic surgery.  The successful incumbent will apply their broad-based managerial and clinical knowledge to the responsibility of managing the human and financial resources; developing and monitoring the operating and capital equipment plans; implementing quality improvement initiatives; and developing both short-and long-term goals and plans. A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and linkages within the Perioperative Care team, with other interdisciplinary teams and departments across the organization and with community partners.  This exciting role provides opportunity for individual growth and development including participation in project development activities and leadership in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications:

·         Baccalaureate degree in a relevant discipline (Nursing preferred)

·         Current registration with a recognized college under the Health Professions Act (College of Nurses of Ontario preferred)

·         Successful completion of a recognized Master Degree program is preferred

·         5 years progressive experience in a leadership role

·         Knowledge of current trends and legislation relevant to the delivery of perioperative services preferred

·         Recent related clinical experience preferably in an acute care academic hospital setting

·         Demonstrated experience effectively and efficiently managing human and fiscal resources

·         Demonstrated commitment to quality service standards and initiatives that promote staff development and life long learning

·         Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
