Reporting to the Project Management Career Centre Manager, the Project Management Analyst will be responsible for providing project management support for up to fifteen projects of varying complexity for a specific site and across sites. This role is responsible for ensuring the consistent application of PMCA processes and best practices. Along with project support, this role will deliver various reports for projects and IS Leaders. The report requirements vary in size and complexity and require significant attention to detail.

Activities Performed in the Role Include:

• Project initiation – establishing projects in the Time Control, Microsoft Project Server and financial reporting systems; establishing project folder structures according to departmental standards and project manager’s directions
• Project planning – establishing and maintaining project/program schedules in Microsoft Project Server; establishing the cost management framework for projects and project portfolios
• Project execution – establishing and maintaining decision and change management logs; establishing and maintaining the project risk management log
• Project monitoring – tracking of project costs and ensuring the reconciliation of information in financial reporting systems; tracking cost re-projections and informing project managers of variances and deviations from the plan; performing trend analysis on program and project portfolio components and recommending solutions to issues when appropriate
• Project close out – verifying compliance with mandatory deliverables at project close out; ensuring project documentation archiving is executed in accordance with compliance and regulatory requirements
• Participation in the development and enhancement of existing Project Management and Project Management Control Analyst processes, practices and deliverables
• Delivery of orientation and training sessions in Project Management and Project Management Control Analyst processes and practices
• Collaboration with other Project Management Analysts and Project Management Control Analysts across the group of companies to identify and implement Project Management Control Analyst best practices
• Promotion and use of project management methodologies and best practices.
• Coaching project managers in the application of Project Management Tools (Microsoft Project Server)

Required Competencies and Behaviours:

• Excellent knowledge of end user tools (e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Experience in report generation and working knowledge of basic financial practices
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Knowledge of and understanding of Project Management methods, practices, processes and scheduling software is an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation
• Good analysis and problem solving skills with a focus on attention to detail
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to adapt to change and stress
• Basic knowledge of the following project management competencies; integration, scope, time, cost, communication, risk and procurement management
• Experience in the use of Microsoft Project Server or other project management software would be an asset.
• Strong team member with a strong client service orientation
• Self starter with initiative
• Experience in a project management environment – either working on projects as a member of a team, or in a project management support role would be an asset
• Post secondary education in business administration, accounting and financial management, management information systems or information technology would be an asset
