PLANT UTILITY PERSON
Start Rate $23.23 per hour
$23.23 - $28.53 per hour (ATU Bargaining Unit)

Our Station Operations East Office is seeking a Plant Utility Person to ensure Metrolinx facilities, grounds, and plant equipment operates and is maintained in a safe and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out remedial and programmed maintenance and repair.
  • Preparing records for the supervisor.
  • Operating and maintaining vehicle, equipment and assigned tools.
  • Monitoring the operation of on-site contractors.
  • Carrying out the construction/installation of temporary and permanent fixtures.
  • Performing snow and ice control services.
  • Carrying out emergency measures resulting from environmental accidents.

Qualifications
:           

  • Level of reading, writing and learning skills normally attained through completion of High School.
  • Minimum 9 months’ experience in general building and grounds maintenance providing a good knowledge of mechanical/electrical equipment, snow and ice control methods and experience in the operation and maintenance of specialized equipment and vehicles
  • Working knowledge of applicable building, fire, environmental and Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s licence and must meet corporate standard for a good driving record. 
  • Must be able to obtain GO Transit Equipment Operator’s Permit. 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid Certification.
  • Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
