COMMUNITY RELATIONS & ISSUES SPECIALIST – GEORGETOWN SOUTH PROJECT
$60,101 to $75,491 per annum

(2 Temporary Positions – up to 2 years)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing a strong and effective relationship with the general public that enhances and expedites GO’s public communications efforts and image through the coordination and execution of one-on-one meetings, open houses, telephone and website information and communication.
  • Developing and creating integrated project design and construction communication strategies to support and enhance corporate image and objectives.
  • Providing background for media, communications, issues, and conflict support and expertise to all levels of staff, including Senior Management.
  • Developing and executing media and communications plans (e.g. crisis communications regarding project issues and working with the general public with respect to complaints and information analysis).
  • Developing, monitoring, and maintaining a communication log, chronicling actions taken and results.

Location:          901 King Street West, Toronto  &  44 King Street, Toronto (Weston)

Qualifications:   
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language and corporate communications normally attained through completion of a four-year College Diploma in communications / media or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience or equivalent in communications or media relations providing a solid background in the execution and communication of informational and promotional material to the general public.
  • Complete proficiency in the English language in order to facilitate high profile public communications.
  • Good knowledge of issues management, multimedia products, and Internet communications.
  • Good people skills to provide ongoing information to the neighborhood and general public with respect to the project.
  • Good analytical skills in order to apply communications evaluation and perform analysis techniques for wide range of media.
  • Good working knowledge of modern communication techniques, as well as desktop publishing, word-processing and web-authoring applications.
  • Good organizational, research, planning and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate in the following languages will be considered an asset: French, Chinese, Italian, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Tamil, Spanish, Polish, and Somali.
