Our Environmental Compliance Division is seeking 2 (Two) Environmental Compliance Project Leaders to supervise the efficient delivery of projects and programs including Environmental Assessment (EA), Heritage, Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), and related areas of study (may include noise, vibration, air quality, built heritage, natural heritage, archaeology, preliminary design, monitoring and mitigation, contamination).   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generating consultant Terms of Reference and supervising consultant contracts engaged in environmental and heritage compliance related assignments (includes scope, budget oversight).
  • Overseeing Metrolinx Programs and Projects including EAs, EA Mitigation Monitoring Program, Heritage Management Process, and Environmental Due Diligence.
  • Providing advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on compliance related topics.
  • Overseeing Co-ordinator level staff with respect to Program and Project execution.
  • Working with various external stakeholders including regulators, the public, and First Nations.
  • Providing an internal knowledge base of legislated environmental and heritage related standards, regulations and guidelines and determining potential impacts to Metrolinx programs and assessments.
  • Developing internal technical guidance documents regarding potential transportation related impacts on social and physical environments (e.g. built heritage, archaeology, air quality, noise, vibration, species at risk, environmental contaminants etc.).
Location:  20 Bay Street, Toronto


  • A university degree in a related discipline (Environmental/Engineering/Heritage) or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum eight (8) years experience related to EA, ESA and remediation, transportation engineering, built heritage, natural heritage, archaeology, impact mitigation, stakeholder consultation.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental engineering, environmental assessment, and related project management.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Protection Act, Heritage Act, and other related legislation.
  • Experience with planning of transit facilities, heavy rail infrastructure, heritage asset conservation, sustainability best practices and related works.
  • Experience with the coordination of a number of complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments.
