GO Transit’s Bus Fleet & Facilities East Office is seeking a Serviceperson I to set-up and operate a brake lathe and tire mounting and balancing machinery, diagnosis, repair and rebuild of bus components, mount, balance, repair and inspect tires, and to assist a Coach Technician, as directed.

Key responsibilities:
·     Assist Coach Technicians with Preventive Maintenance Inspection and repairs.
·    Sets up and operates the brake lathe.
  • Rebuilds off-bus components, which includes part preparation using sand-blasting equipment.
  • Performs tire repairs through mounting, wheel-nut retorquing, balancing, inspection and maintenance of tire-pressure monitoring systems.
  • Assists Coach Technicians with the repair or replacement of defective mechanical, pneumatic, electrical or hydraulic components.
  • Carries out shop and road tests to verify the effectiveness of completed repairs.
  • Assists Coach Technicians in the performance of scheduled preventative maintenance and legislated inspections on the bus fleet, including maintenance cleaning associated with inspections.
  • Performs spills containment and clean up.
  • Performs emission tests.
  • Completes on-the-road change-offs and road calls.
  • Maintains bus batteries, up to and including replacement.
·        Performs other related duties as assigned within classification and lower.

Location:      Oshawa Garage, 1002 Thornton Road S. Oshawa.

Shift:            Monday to Friday (1400-2200 hours), with Saturday & Sunday as off days.


·       Knowledge of motor vehicle repairs normally attained through completion of high school with an emphasis on motor vehicle repairs.
·       Minimum of one (1) year’s experience involving mounting and balancing tires and brake re-building in a bus or heavy vehicle maintenance environment.
·       Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and must meet the corporate standard for a good driving record.  Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Class “C” driver’s licence and “Z” endorsement.
·       Must successfully complete legislated wheel installation course, small component rebuild and tire specialization courses.
·        Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy, as well as obtain job related certifications as required.
