MANAGER, COMMUNITY RELATIONS – TORONTO TRANSIT PROJECTS
$103,102 – $128,878 per annum

Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario and oversees GO Transit, PRESTO, the Union Pearson Express and a new division, Rapid Transit Implementation (the Toronto transit projects).  Our goal is to create a transportation network that enhances the prosperity, sustainability and quality of life for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).  Join us as we work together to transform the way the region moves.

Key Responsibilities:

·            Manages complex community relations and associated communications issues by partnering with a variety of internal and external service providers and stakeholders, including provincial, federal and municipal partners, community groups and other local stakeholders on a regular basis.
·            Leads and supports creative, innovative and effective public consultation and community relations initiatives to increase awareness of, and engagement in, the Toronto transit projects
·            Together with the Manager, Communications manages the strategic delivery of print, online, media, and multimedia information and material about the Toronto Transit projects, to stakeholders, residents and businesses in affected communities.
·            Assists the projects’ Manager, Communications as required on media, issues management and communications issues that are relevant to community relations.
·            Acts as a liaison with the capital project implementation team
·            Maintains an awareness of community issues that may impact corporate strategies or objectives.
·            Assists with the development of Metrolinx corporate community and stakeholder relations best practices.

Location:          20 Bay Street Street, Toronto

Qualifications:   
·            University Degree in a related discipline or an advanced / specialist technical certification, requiring an equivalent number of years of post-secondary education
·            Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in communications, stakeholder relations and/or community relations that includes direct exposure to, or demonstrated working knowledge of:
-       Creative, innovative and effective community relations strategies, preferably in the context of  major capital projects
-       Managing the development and implementation of community relations strategies
-       Issues management
-       Implementing communications or community relations in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
-       Managing communications and/or community relations teams

·            Previous experience in the public sector and second-language capability would be an asset.
