Job Designation: Temporary Arena Facilities Maintenance Operator - Certified
Department: Recreation and Culture
Salary Range: $23.90 (Temporary rate)
Pay Grade: Band 4 (Schedule A)
Duration: These positions will have a maximum duration of eight (8) months. Hours of work may vary depending on operational needs.

• Under general supervision, performs work related to the operation and maintenance of recreation facilities.
• Works in a recreation facility or arena on shift work.
• Performs manual duties involving simple repairs, service and maintenance work to plant equipment and properties.
• Directs part-time employees and provides courteous contact and control of public within facilities.
• Operates all equipment normally used in the ongoing maintenance of facilities and/or other development programs of the Parks and Recreation Department, in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum of High School education or acceptable equivalent in education and experience. Preference will be given for previous experience and/or training in the operation of a recreational facility and maintenance. Experience in operation of related equipment, demonstrated mechanical aptitude and knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety guidelines are requirements. The successful candidate must have a valid and unrestricted Ontario class G driver’s license (standard and automatic transmission). A driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour. Note: Applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible for consideration. A Driver’s Abstract may be required and must be dated within the last 30 days. Successful completion of a recognized refrigeration course is required.
Please note that successful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment.
Willingness to undertake further training is essential. Consideration will be given to candidates who currently do not posses a Refrigeration Certificate.
Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
