Commissioner of Community Services

As a progressive organizational leader, you will embrace the spirit of excellence and innovative thinking that drives this distinct and dynamic community of more than 185,000 residents.  Bordered to the south by Lake Ontario, the Town of Oakville has a rich history, a thriving cultural community, abundant green space and an active and engaged population.  Economically, it’s the location of choice for over 300 national and international corporate headquarters that have taken advantage of the Town's talented workforce, advanced training opportunities and premium land.

Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will sit on the Executive Management Team providing the strategic leadership to help Oakville achieve its vision to be the most livable town in Canada.  You will champion the use of sound business planning, exceptional management practices and sustainable resource stewardship for a team of directors who deliver and manage recreational and cultural programs, parks, trails and open spaces, roads, transit and emergency and fire services.  Strategically, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the future of one of Canada’s most affluent communities as it plans for growth while maintaining its unique town character.  With your broad portfolio of services, you’ll apply evidence-based decision-making to make optimum use of resources.  Drive interdisciplinary and inter-department co-operation in support of responsive customer service.  Solidify and expand partnerships in both the public and private sectors.  Encourage your team to contribute insights and innovative thinking to the Town’s planning and operations processes.

Since earning your degree, you have taken on progressively senior positions in municipal government.  A champion of service delivery and resource stewardship, you have the judgement, leadership credentials and the vision to sustain Oakville’s position as one of Canada’s preferred places to live and work.
