POSITION TITLE:  Accounting Assistant

SALARY GRADE AND RANGE:  Level 4 ($37,040- $46,300)

CLOSING DATE:  November 13, 2012

Position summary:
To assist in the preparation of complete, accurate and timely reporting of financial information as it pertains to OLG Casinos and Racetracks.  Ensure data recorded in the financial accounting system is consistent with principles of sound financial management and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).  In addition, the role also requires the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and the preparation of year-end working papers.

Major Responsibility Areas:

Preparation, input and analysis of financial data into the corporate general ledger within a fixed time frame. This includes revenue, gaming site activity, and inventory movement in accordance with IFRS.

Design/develop and maintain a variety of schedules, templates and spreadsheets used to facilitate input into the general ledger and facilitate financial analysis.

Monthly reconciliation of various general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations and other significant balance sheet and income statement accounts.

Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of weekly commission statements to stakeholders.

Develop and maintain effective communication channels with site audit, treasury, gaming support, and other finance departments in order to obtain information to resolve accounting issues and /or make recommendations.  Provide guidance and direction on correcting accounting entries as required.

Preparation of year end working papers in accordance with IFRS and external auditors requirements within tight timelines.  Assist with various queries and requests arising from the year-end audit.

Respond to queries and provide various financial information and analysis as required by site audit staff, and/or Finance staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a minimum education level of a College or University Diploma in Accounting or Business

3 to 5 years experience in an accounting environment

Enrolment in a recognized accounting designation program would be an asset

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff

The ability to work in a team environment and to work well under pressure

Excellent verbal and written skills

Proficient in PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office Suite products, including a demonstrated advanced knowledge of Excel

Strong analytical and problem solving skills
