The Opportunity

Operations Engineer – Houston, TX
·         Upgrading and maintaining an existing fleet of land drilling rigs to support operations, engineering, and safety;
·         Assisting in the design and manufacture of new drilling rig equipment;
·         Providing technical support for maintenance, inspection and repair operations;
·         Providing technical assistance to the marketing department;
·         Producing material requisitions for the purchase of raw job materials;
·         Generating detailed drawings of existing mechanical parts;
·         Assisting with management of CAD drawing standards and drawing libraries;
·         Helping to ensure the accuracy of rig inventories and rig ratings;
·         Traveling occasionally to rig locations, yard locations and vendor locations as required; and
·          Various other duties or special projects as required.

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications:

·          Providing budgeting estimates.
·         Working on projects within the budgeted cost and time frame. BS Mechanical Engineering Degree.
·         Candidate should be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Texas or as an Engineer in Training working towards Professional certification.
·         8 or more year’s previous mechanical design and detailing with AutoCAD.
·         Experience with oil drilling rig equipment would be an asset, but not a requirement.
·         Experience with Inventor, Ansys, and Safi is an asset.
·         Excellent time management skills.
·         Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
·         Excellent grasp of diverse, fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and relationships.
·         Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
·         Ability to work well within a multi-discipline team.
·         SAP experience an asset, but not required.
·         Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
