Distance Education Receptionist
(Administrative Assistant I)

Note: This is a temporary, 37.25 hour/week casual position with an end date of June 30, 2013.

Distance Education at SAIT is growing every year and the Distance Education team in the Corporate Training department requires a front-line receptionist.  Under the supervision of the Distance Education Support Services Supervisor, it is the responsibility of this position to efficiently and effectively provide student focused support in the delivery of distance education courses and programs.  This position also provides support to distance education instructors.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
·         Respond to telephone, fax, email, and in-person queries related to distance education courses and program offerings
·         Liaise with academic schools, support service departments, external agencies, learners/clients (i.e. answer questions, resolve concerns/complaints, etc.)
·         Prepare, coordinate and assemble examination packages for distribution internally and externally.  Approve (or decline) external examination invigilators.  Monitor/track all internal and external circulated exams using DE Exam tracking application
·         Supply general information on course/program prerequisites, co-requisites, fees, supplies, time allowance, descriptions, etc.
·         Interpret and relay general policies/procedures surrounding course registration, refunds, extensions of time, address and name changes, etc.
·         Correctly direct walk-in inquiries and telephone calls
·         Resolve student and instructor issues and concerns of a minor nature
·         Process refunds of returned materials
·         Monitor course inventory and order as needed
·         Other administrative duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
·         Grade 12 supplemented by post-secondary courses in computer skills (MS Office, etc.)
·         Minimum of three years of office administration related experience
·         Work experience in an educational environment with knowledge of SCT Banner would be an asset
·         Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Successful candidates must provide proof of qualifications. Only education obtained from an accredited institution will be recognized.
