Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Admissions and Recruitment, the Manager, Student Recruitment is accountable for the development and implementation of programs, policies and processes that support the achievement of College enrolment targets as established in conjunction with the academic faculties.   He/she is also responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of recruiting strategies that promote Sheridan College as a higher learning institution of choice for existing and prospective students, with the goal of recruiting the students for whom Sheridan is the right fit as this leads to student success and retention. This position is a significant contributor to Sheridan’s public image.

Please not the incumbent is expected to travel to all campuses on a regular basis.

The Manager, Student Recruitment responsibilities include:
• Designs and manages the implementation and/or maintenance of recruitment strategies, programs and initiatives designed to support the College's ability to meet projected enrolment targets.  This involves collaborating with the Manager, Admissions, Manager of Client Services, and the Managers of Marketing and Communications; Student Services; International Services; and the academic faculties, in reviewing current programs, policies and processes to measure their effectiveness in meeting existing/future recruitment goals;  
• Creates operational effectiveness by forecasting, managing and taking appropriate actions to ensure that the College maintains a competitive edge in attracting and retaining students within its community, e.g. developing communication materials and tools including  online resources, social media, print materials; developing and implementing extensive outreach & on-campus recruitment activities; and ensuring that all recruitment materials and activities continue to meet the changing demands and needs of prospective students and their families;
• Manages staff (fulltime and part-time) at 3 campuses involved in both on-campus and outreach recruitment functions, including setting individual goals and objectives, developing and ensuring performance standards, hiring and orientation of staff, determining and recommending overall learning needs, determining appropriate disciplinary or corrective action to be taken as required;
• Manages the On-campus Recruitment Centres and tour program for three campus locations. Oversees the recruitment, hiring and provides training, guidance and direction for staff of student ambassadors (STARS);
• Develops and implements promotion and recruitment strategies including identifying target and potential target audiences by (e.g. secondary and other postsecondary educational institutions, career fairs, parents groups, teachers conferences, guidance counsellor associations, etc.), collecting and analysing a variety of data and information (e.g. demographics, population growth and economic trends and opportunities, particularly in a global economy) and monitoring directions and changes in the education community. Prepares and reports findings to senior management and Deans of the Academic Faculties to facilitate timely adjustments to projected enrolment plans and target audiences;
• Oversees the development of the content for the College's annual full-time postsecondary calendar, Viewbook, degree brochure and other recruitment materials, ensuring all information, admission requirements, credentials and College services are accurately stated and presented in formats designed to attract attention and interest (print and web versions);
• Manages a budget for staff and recruitment activities, and ensures adherence to all Finance policies
• Works as part of the management team with the Office of the Registrar
• Develops and maintains professional relationships, contacts and membership in provincial organizations related to recruitment.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a four-year degree or 3 year diploma/degree + post graduate certificate with five years of related work experience in a post-secondary environment or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.  The incumbent must possess strong computer skills including word processing, email and an understanding of relational databases for development of centralized systems; excellent oral and written communication skills for use with diverse groups; negotiation, conflict resolution, project management and research skills and experience.  The incumbent must also possess the ability to develop effective recruitment strategies and tools, have well-developed supervisory, administrative, leadership/team building and change management skills.  Additionally, the incumbent must possess proven budget management skills and ability to develop and recommend creative solutions to address fiscal pressures as they arise.  The incumbent should be a strong team player.
