Reporting directly to the Director, Enterprise System Services (ESS), the incumbent, a senior member of the ESS team, is an expert in PeopleSoft architecture and development with extensive knowledge and experience in analysing user requirements, designing and implementing solutions as well as supporting complex administrative and academic systems.  The incumbent possesses expert level PeopleSoft technical knowledge and is responsible for ensuring Sheridan’s enterprise systems are robust, stable, current, well supported and maintained.  The incumbent analyses application requests, researches and architects new solutions, designs and implements system enhancements and interfaces, plans and executes system upgrades, and supports the existing systems.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Assessing and analyzing requests for new applications as well as enhancements and modifications to the existing corporate information systems;
• Researching and architecting possible solutions based on the existing systems and modules, as well as the available technologies and business processes;
• Analyzing requirements and specifications, in the context of existing systems and modules, business processes and available technologies, to identify and document the impact and informing the user community of the implications;
• Recommending changes to technical and/or business processes and modeling the system or module to ensure it meshes with existing corporate systems and modules;
• Designing and developing an implementation strategy, including testing procedures;
• Providing guidance to junior development staff and technical consultants to ensure tasks are being implemented as required;
• Working with system support specialists throughout Sheridan to identify enhancements and maintain the productive utilization of the existing administrative systems;
• Designing and implementing new enterprise systems and modules as well as enhancements to the existing enterprise applications;
• Reviewing the implementation plan with all concerned parties on a regular basis, making modifications as required, and coordinating tasks to prevent system conflicts;
• Acting as a senior technical resource and providing the highest level of problem resolution for all application related problems;
• Investigating and diagnosing application problems to determine scope, number of users affected, and developing a plan for correcting the problem;
• Collaborating with other team members and other technical staff within IT to resolve issues that impact multiple system modules;
• Solving problems by implementing a solution utilizing the existing technologies or recommending a change to a business process;
• Reporting problems and issues to vendor support, monitoring the progress of the open calls, and troubleshooting;
• Providing a lead role in the planning and coordinating of activities related to application upgrades;
• Analyzing existing customizations, enhancements, and interfaces and determining how they are impacted by the upgrade, and determining which ones need to be re-applied to the upgraded system;
• Designing and developing any new customizations required for the upgraded system;
• Researching new products and tools to be used by other ESS staff;
• Performing other related duties as required.

The successful candidate will possess a 3 year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field along with a minimum of 8 years of structured systems design and development experience in a PeopleSoft environment using relational databases, preferably Oracle (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience).  The incumbent will also have at least 3 years of systems analysis experience.  The incumbent will possess an in-depth knowledge of PeopleSoft development tools including Application Engine, SQR, PeopleCode and Integration tools, along with project management skills to act as technical project lead or participant in projects involving other ESS support members, or other IT and non-IT groups.  The incumbent must demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment, the ability to problem solve, organize and prioritize duties, make decisions, work independently and deal with conflicting deadlines. A strong ability to research, troubleshoot and analyze data issues is also required along with excellent oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with staff and other system users.
