JOB SUMMARY:
Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with Registered Nurses’ Association of British Columbia (CRNBC) standards of professional practice, Code of Ethics, and the established vision and values of the organization, provides on-going nursing care to clients with incontinence/pelvic floor dysfunction both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Establishes therapeutic relationships with clients and families, liaising and communicating with a range of health care professionals and other resources. Consults and collaborates with team members/other caregivers in the identification and resolution of client/family care issues. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned; responds to a variety of incidents; identifies and reports unsafe practice/professional conduct in accordance with professional standards and organization policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a recognized Continence Promotion and Management Program or Continence Nurse Certificate or two years’ recent continence experience. Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family centered model of care. Broad knowledge of CRNBC's standards for nursing practice. Broad knowledge of issues/manifestations and treatment of incontinence/pelvic floor dysfunction. Broad knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care. Demonstrated ability to perform urodynamics as required. Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to designated client group. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement plans of care in relation to client/family priorities. Demonstrated ability in interviewing and assessment skills. Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care, and to respond appropriately. Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events. Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict situations. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing.
