Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing all aspects of HR operations, including recruitment and selection, employee relations, benefits administration, training and development, policy development and implementation, and other related functions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in compliance with all applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations, and ensure that all policies and procedures are up-to-date and effective.
· Manage the recruitment and selection process for all job openings, including job postings, resume screening, and candidate interviews. Work with hiring managers to develop a set of core values, effective recruitment strategies and ensure that all hiring decisions are based on merit.
· Administer employee benefits programs and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements. This includes overseeing the enrollment process, maintaining accurate records, and responding to employee inquiries and concerns.
· Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR issues, including performance management, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution. Work with managers to develop effective performance improvement plans and ensure that all disciplinary action is consistent with Little Lake Cemetery Company policies and procedures.
· Facilitate and coordinate training and development programs for all employees, including new hire orientation and ongoing professional development opportunities. Develop and deliver training programs as needed, and work with managers to ensure that all employees receive the training they need to perform their jobs effectively.
· Manage employee relations and communication initiatives to foster a positive and productive work environment. This includes promoting effective communication between employees and managers, addressing employee concerns and grievances, and working to resolve conflicts.
· Conduct exit interviews and provide recommendations for improvement to management. Analyze data from exit interviews and other sources to identify trends and areas for improvement.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and files. Ensure that all HR files are secure and confidential, and that all HR data is accurate and up-to-date.
· Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices. Work with managers and employees to ensure that all policies and procedures are understood and followed.
· Stay current on HR trends, best practices, and legal developments, and recommend changes or improvements to HR policies and procedures as needed. Participate in industry associations and attend relevant training and development events as needed.
· Administer the Collective Agreement and participate in preparation/negotiation of the collective agreement.
· Ability to provide back-up assistance to payroll administration
Organizational Responsibilities
- Participate and contribute to supportive activities, which promote effective team building
- Represent Little Lake Cemetery Company throughout the community in activities, education opportunities and committees
- Lead and participate in all aspects of Health and Safety compliance, training, including WHMIS and apply this knowledge in the workplace.
- Fulfill all responsibilities in accordance with the by-laws, policies and procedures and standards of Little Lake Cemetery Company.
- Willingness to accept other duties as required.
- Provides counsel to the HR committee as requested.
Qualifications
- Degree or College diploma in Human Resources or equivalent
- CHRP designation an asset
- 3+ years experience working as a human resources generalist
- Current knowledge of the Ministry of Labour standards and the Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Rights Awards and Jurisprudence case law
- Experience with a union and non-union environment
- Experience working with payroll systems an asset (ADP)
- Familiarity with the BAO (Bereavement Authority of Ontario) would be an asset but not required
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize own work assignments to meet timelines

Salary: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
